I. Description of the Course: This course covers the areas of information technology and computer literacy including history, ethics, careers, and examples of how computers and communications technologies are being used both in education specifically and society in general. Furthermore, the course introduces current system and application programs being used today and provides the learner the opportunity to identify and understand the concepts related to all areas of computer programs along with the hands-on learning experiences needed to develop their operation skills in using these system and applications software.

II. General Objectives:

At the end of this course, the students will be able: • To provide groundwork for computer literacy by tracing the computer’s historical development, describing its characteristics, capabilities as well as its limitations. • To demonstrate understanding of the essential hardware, software, and computer system terminology. • To employ confidence in using the computers and communications technology both in pursuit of one’s studies and future career. • To provide the essential educational foundation and operational skills necessary to become productive and versatile citizens, ready to respond to the changing needs of the community. • To determine through real-life examples that computer-and -communications technology has financial relationship with all fields.

III.
