What were the major developments in the evolution of mass media during the 20th century?
In the 20th Century people began to see the way the media was presented change. Other than through print, magazine, and through other printed materials. People were able to view the media through internet, television, and radio. The internet was one of the major developments in the evolution. It allowed people to send emails and view websites. Smart phones and satellites also became invented and used by people. Through television people were now able to view and listen to the news and other programs. Cable television made it possible to view many channels. People now had the option to watch movies in the comfort of their own homes. The invention of the printing press made printing media easier. Media companies were now able to produce more papers at a faster rate. People became more independent not having to rely on other ways of viewing printed work. The radio allowed people to listen to media when they did not have the time or option to watch television or read a newspaper, book or magazine. The all helped get media all around for everyone. Each development influenced American culture in a great way. It works greatly to our advantage. Some use the media to get news and updates. Some people watch television and listen to the radio as entertainment. People are able to watch movies and sports from the comfort of their own homes. The greatest thing is people can watch these programs even from the Internet on websites such as ESPN, Hulu, Youtube and much more. With the development of the radio American musicians are able to get their music out to a wider audience. We then also became able to listen to music from other cultures as well.
